Music I’ve Been Enjoying – Edition 1

Here I present to you a quick little post featuring some “Newer Music” that I’m listening to. I have many friends my age who always say that there is no good new music. Leaving their car stereos on the classic rock stations pining over their younger years to what they grew up on.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the music of my youth just as much as the next guy but there are some good bands putting out great music in our current decade as well. Just figured I’d share a few of my fave new/newer bands. Keep in mind I’m primarily a ROCK guy. That’s not to say I don’t listen to varied genres, I’m just starting here and may do more editions of this post in the future.

The Glorious Sons

Canadian boys from Kingston, a town known for the Tragically Hip. Is there something in the water there?

Royal Blood

A rock DOU from England. Yeah that’s right TWO guys!

The Struts

A band that wears their influences on their sleeve, but they do it well.

Rival Sons

Kickass rock from California

The Magpie Salute

You may recognize a few of these guys.

The Lazys

These guys have been around for quite awhile but apparently Australia’s been keeping them secret.

So yeah, there you have a few bands I’m listening to and checking out lately. If you have any other new bands that deserve a listen please let me know in the comments.

I’d also like to give a HUGE shout out to my good friend Iain who runs the Music Omnivore which features new, old and varied genres of musicians and bands almost every day. He shares many of the new finds with me personally as he knows what I like. His website is definitely something to check out and FOLLOW! There’s something there for everyone.
