So I’ve been home here in Vancouver for 3 months. I had some plans coming home that involved finding new work and upgrading my photographic gear and working on other photographic endeavors. Instead, I’ve had no luck and am finding myself doing the same redundant things that I was doing before I left on my cross Canada winter adventure. I miss the road more than ever and I refuse to sit here and spin my wheels, scraping enough money together to cover my rent only to do the exact same thing next month.
I have decided that I will head back out on the road and do another “no budget” trip. This time I have slightly rethought out plans that should evolve and snowball into perhaps a perpetual way to eek out a living and earn me the money to keep traveling. With any luck, indefinitely.
Right now all I’m going to say is that I will be selling off my belongings to fund the beginning of my trip and giving up my apartment permanently this time. I’m going to head South, into the states, taking life even slower than I did through Canada last winter. I will be shooting photos for both my art and for stock photography sites as I’m now a contributor to a few of them. This will eventually become a helpful source of gas money as time goes by. I will be doing everything I can both now and when I’m on the road to promote my work and this site as a travel blog.
Before I leave I do have quite a few things I need to do. I have some freelance work that I need to finish. I have to sort through my stuff and pack and store what has meaning before selling everything else. I have to prep the truck etc. I also am going to build an online store to enable people to purchase and order prints of my work. This will allow me to display new work while on the road that people can purchase long before I get back, while their interest in certain pieces is fresh.
So over the next month or two I’ll be diligently preparing for my next grand adventure that will take me all across North America by truck. Then when I’m watching the Vancouver city limits disappear in my rearview mirror, this blog will be the place to follow me once again because once again, it’s time to make my own luck.
